Who Can Get a Card?
Library cards are issued based on residency and other eligibility factors as defined by the Library Card Policy. Feel free to contact a staff member at any time if you have questions.
CMPL'S LEGAL SERVICE AREA
Clinton Township (excluding those that live in the Mount Clemens School District) or Macomb Township.
For residents who live or own property in CMPL's legal service area. In most cases, our system is able to issue resident cards online automatically. You may use a digital version of your library card by installing the CMPL app on your phone or choose from one of our regular library cards as shown on the right.
For non-residents who are not eligible for a resident or reciprocal card but work in CMPL’s legal service area. Bring proof of current employment when applying.
For non-residents who possess a card from a member library of the Suburban Library Cooperative. Bring the card from your home library to be added to our system.
Resident cardholders may use participating libraries across Michigan to borrow print materials and use computers free of charge.
Persons who are not eligible for a resident or SLC nonresident card can purchase an SLC-wide card for $200. This library card account can be used by any member of a family and allows full checkout privileges. The card is valid for one year, and must be re-purchased annually.
Persons who do not have a library card can sign up for a free visitor card. This card allows for internet access privileges only at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library’s three locations. There are no circulation privileges with this card.
Teachers who work at a school located within Clinton or Macomb Township are eligible for a library card. Applicants must bring their home library card to be registered with us as well as a current pay stub from the school district.
