Services for Seniors
- Library by Mail
CMPL’s Library by Mail service allows patrons residing in the CMPL service area but are unable to visit the library in person, to receive library materials by mail. Register for this service here.
- Adaptive Technology
You can check out various magnifiers (over 50) to see which ones work best for you. A variety of magnifiers are also available for check out at the North and South Branches. Other assistive technology, such as computers, can be found in our Library for the Blind.
- Senior Outreach
Do you have a senior group that cannot get to the library? We may be able to send a librarian to your organization to provide information about the library. Please call Meghan at (586) 226-5055.
Local Author Collection
Are you a local author? Have you published a book that highlights the area or the state of Michigan? The Main Library houses the Local Author Collection to highlight residents who have published books. If you would like your work to be added to the Local Author Collection, please bring a copy to the Main Library and fill out the form below.
Literacy Resources and Language Collection
Learning English can be difficult. The Main Library hosts ESL Conversation class on Saturdays from 10am-12pm. For more details click here or call 586-226-5040. Do you, or a friend or family member, still need more help? Click here for a brochure of literacy resources in the area.
Now is a great time to start learning a new language. We provide a free resource to learn how to speak 80+ languages – try it online or download the app. Alternatively, we offer assistance to non-native English speakers who may want to explore our international language collection or browse our ESL collection.
Seed Libraries
All locations have Seed Libraries available! Seed Libraries are located on the Popular Materials desk at the Main Library, in the Creative Commons at the North Branch, and by the video games at the South Branch. Seeds are available while supplies last or until fall.

Renew Your Reading
From January 1 to December 30, 2023, adults ages 18+ may take the challenge to read new and different types of books this year. You'll be entered to win a prize if you read a total of six books in the following eight categories:
- Read the 1-2-3 book for adults: The Story of More: How we got to climate change and where to go from here by Hope Jahren
- Read a book from the May or September 2023 Chapter One handout.
- Read a book set somewhere you’d like to visit.
- Read a book set in the decade of your childhood.
- Read a book about a book or library.
- Read a book by a Michigan author.
- Read the first book in a series.
- Read a book that is the inspiration for a movie or TV show you loved.

Gale Courses
Gale Courses offers a wide range of highly interactive, instructor-led courses that you can take entirely online. These FREE courses are available to residents of Clinton and Macomb Township. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month. Check out the courses offered and register today!

Veterans History Project
The Veterans History Project of Macomb records interviews with former and current members of the military. Interviews are sent to the Library of Congress. CMPL is starting a collection of local interviews in the Donald W. Green Local History Room.
