The North Branch will be opened in LIMITED CAPACITY on Tues., April 9.  You will be able to browse items in the lobby, use the café, and check out holds. If you require further items from inside the library, a staff member will need to assist you.  We hope to be able to open the building fully very soon and will keep you updated.

Adaptive Technology Lending

Adaptive Technology Lending Program
In August 2021, the Macomb Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (MLBPD) was awarded the LSTA Improving Access to Information grant funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library of Michigan. With grant funding, MLBPD developed a new program called the Adaptive Technology Lending Program (ATLP) which included the purchase of 11 different adaptive technology. When the grant period ended in October 2022, the ATLP was integrated into two programs: Wi-Fi Hotspot by Mail lending program and the Circulating Adaptive Technology program. Both programs support Macomb County’s disability community with limited or no access to technology.

Anyone who is interested in borrowing an adaptive technology must be a MLBPD patron. If the person isn’t a MLBPD patron, they will need to complete a MLBPD application and have it signed by a certifying authority.

MLBPD patrons or their caregiver can call the library to request a Wi-Fi hotspot to be mailed to their home.

Limit: 1 item
Loan Period: 3 weeks with 1 renewal. Item may be placed on hold.

Circulating Adaptive Technology
MLBPD patrons or their caregiver will need to come to the library to check out the adaptive technology.

Loan Period: 2 weeks with 1 renewal
